The Tanzania Examinations Council (NECTA) has officially announced the Matokeo ya Kidato cha Sita 2025, revealing an impressive overall pass rate of 99.95 percent among 126,135 candidates who sat for the exams. This slight increase from the 99.92 percent recorded in 2024 highlights continued academic excellence in the country’s secondary education system. The announcement took place on July 7, 2025, at NECTA’s Zanzibar offices, where the council’s Executive Secretary, Professor Said Mohamed, presented the detailed results.
According to Professor Mohamed, 790 candidates, representing 0.62 percent of registered students, did not participate in the examinations. Out of those who took the exams, 125,779 candidates passed, maintaining the 99.95 percent success rate for the ACSEE Results 2025. Conversely, 68 candidates failed, accounting for just 0.05 percent of the test-takers. The previous year saw 103,252 students pass, with a slightly lower pass rate of 99.92 percent.
The gender statistics for the Form Six results 2025 show equal success rates for both girls and boys, with 61,953 female candidates and 63,826 male candidates each achieving a 99.95 percent pass rate. A breakdown of grades shows that 125,375 candidates, or 99.62 percent, earned passes within the first to third divisions. Among them, 61,120 candidates (48.57 percent) attained Division One, while 49,385 candidates (39.24 percent) achieved Division Two.
In a notable development, NECTA canceled the results of 71 candidates—70 from the ACSEE and one from the Grade A Teacher Certificate Examination (GATCE)—due to examination malpractice. These cancellations were made in accordance with Section 5(2)(i) and (j) of the Examination Council Act, Chapter 107, alongside Regulation 30(2)(b) of the 2016 Examination Rules.
Professor Mohamed explained that the affected candidates were found guilty of bringing unauthorized items such as mobile phones and smartwatches into exam rooms, collaborating with others during exams, and using pre-prepared answer sheets. Additionally, similarities in handwriting and answer patterns on some scripts strongly indicated cheating, constituting a violation of examination laws.
