Head of Investor Relations and Sustainability (1 Position)

Job Purpose

Responsible for leading the bank’s Investor Relations and Sustainability strategy, ensuring transparent communication with shareholders, analysts, and other stakeholders, while integrating Sustainability Principles (ESG) into the bank’s strategy, operations, and long-term value creation. The goal is to safeguard investor confidence and enhance corporate reputation.

Main Responsibilities

1. Investor Relations Framework and Strategic Planning

• Develop appropriate policies and guidelines to establish a “best-in-class” Investor Relations (IR) function.
• Define the IR strategy and support the execution of the annual operating plan (IR calendar).
• Plan for and lead any “go to the market” initiatives for raising additional equity/funding.
• Ensure alignment of the bank’s sustainability initiatives with business growth and regulatory expectations.

2. Relationship Management & Financial Communication

• Identify, cultivate, and manage buy-side and sell-side relationships (analysts, credit rating agencies, investors).
• Engage key stakeholders through regular calls, “road shows,” and attendance at investor conferences (domestically and internationally).
• Serve as co-key-point-of-contact for day-to-day investor, analyst, and rating agency queries.
• Work closely with Finance and Corporate Communications for the accurate, timely dissemination of financial results.
• Develop Q&A scripts, press releases, and executive speeches for financial announcements.
• Support the CEO, CFO, and Board in articulating the bank’s financial and strategic story.

3. Disclosure, Communication, and Market Monitoring

• Create value-driving messages to clearly communicate the bank’s unique investment value proposition.
• Ensure consistency in external communications and disclosures by leading the performance narrative in quarterly results calls, investor presentations, Annual Report, and the IR website.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and disclosure requirements of capital markets and financial regulators.
• Provide regular feedback to senior management on investment/analyst community perceptions, market developments, and concerns.
• Monitor and summarize analyst reports for senior management.
• Evaluate the bank and relevant competitors from an investment and strategic perspective.

4. Sustainability Strategy & Governance (ESG)

• Establish a realistic sustainability roadmap and define clear policies to meet ESG objectives.
• Prepare the Bank’s annual sustainability report based on prescribed reporting standards (e.g., GRI, TCFD, SASB, ISSB).
• Develop annual and long-term sustainable development goals and science-based targets.
• Ensure processes are in place to maintain ESG and Climate risk compliance with applicable legislation, license conditions, and international standards.
• Lead corporate sustainability initiatives, advise the Audit, Risk Management and Sustainability Committee, the Board, and the Executive on sustainability matters.

5. Sustainability Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Oversee data collection, verification, and publication of sustainability performance indicators.
• Build and maintain relationships with institutional investors, regulators, and sustainability partners.
• Represent the bank in ESG forums, investor conferences, and sustainability networks.
• Manage the bank’s participation in ESG ratings and indices (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics).
• Collaborate with Corporate Affairs to ensure consistent communication across investor and sustainability narratives.

🧠 Knowledge and Skills

• Financial & Analytical: Strong financial literacy and analytical skills; demonstrable problem-solving, quantitative skills. Deep understanding of Financial Reporting (TFRS1) and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1).
• IR & Disclosure: Knowledge of Capital markets and stock exchange disclosure requirements. Technical knowledge of financial disclosure.
• ESG & Sustainability: Deep understanding of ESG frameworks and reporting standards (GRI, TCFD, SASB, ISSB). Understanding of Sustainability trends in the financial sector (green bonds, climate finance). Knowledge of the Guidelines on Climate-Related Financial Risks.
• Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills. Ability to influence at Board and Executive levels.
• Industry Acumen: Understanding of banking and financial services operations and regulations. Strategic thinking and business insights.
• Leadership & Professionalism: Demonstrated leadership capabilities to organize and manage diverse teams. High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

🎓 Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Accounting, Sustainability Management, or related fields.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Strategy, Investor Relations, and Sustainability.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in banking, financial services, or highly regulated sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in managing Investor Relations for a Listed Entity.
  • Experience in financial reporting and analysis, preferably in sustainability reporting.

Added Advantage

• Master’s degree.
• Certificate of Proficiency in Industrial Relations or Sustainability.
