Job Purpose
The Loading & Offloading Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely loading and offloading of cargo at the railway station. The role ensures full compliance with company policies, safety standards, and contractual obligations while maintaining effective coordination among all operational stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervision of Loading & Offloading
- Oversee loading and offloading of cargo from rail wagons to trucks or storage facilities.
- Ensure proper handling procedures are followed to prevent cargo damage or loss.
- Inspect and confirm that all loading/offloading equipment is in safe and functional condition.
2. Cargo Verification & Documentation
- Verify cargo details against waybills, consignment notes, and other shipping documents.
- Ensure accurate completion and submission of Proof of Delivery (POD) and all required reports.
- Maintain daily operational logs and loading/offloading summaries.
- Reconcile data with the Depot and Plant Dispatch teams.
3. Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with railway operators, truck drivers, warehouse teams, and the Plant
- Operations team for smooth workflow.
- Coordinate with security personnel to safeguard cargo during operations.
- Provide timely operational updates to the reporting officer as per schedule.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Enforce adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Report incidents, damages, or irregularities promptly to management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, railway regulations, and local laws.
5. Operational Efficiency
- Monitor and optimize turnaround times for trains and trucks.
- Identify process bottlenecks and recommend operational improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in cargo handling or logistics operations, preferably in a railway or industrial environment.
- Solid understanding of railway operations, safety standards, and cargo handling procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
