Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits).

 

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brands in the portfolio include Serengeti Lite, Guinness, Pilsner and SIB. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international world-class spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Bailey’s and Captain Morgan.

  • While this role does not have any direct reports, the ability to lead and influence decisions and decision makers is critical.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the digital agenda within the business as an eCommerce Manager. You’ll develop and implement a digital strategy to drive overall category growth and our share within it. You’ll be combining and using digital marketing skills, commercial capability, data, and analytics to identify insights and implement unique digital activations.
  • The eCommerce Manager will lead the development and execution of our e-commerce strategy, developing strong relationships with marketplaces and retailers to build targeted growth plans, activate our brands digitally and assess the data to measure results and contribute to broader channel and category insights.
  • This role will work closely with our marketing, customer marketing brands teams as well as the Sales Teams to develop solutions for this important channel, and work with our Diageo sales teams and broker partners to build lasting partnerships with our customers.
  • Manages / executes the commercial ecommerce calendar.
  • Leads commercialization/ tailoring of brand & portfolio activities into channel & customer programs that deliver the overall commercial plan aligned to MBPs.
  • Contribute into building of trade strategy through key elements related to ecommerce and route to market while unlocking opportunities and risk that would deliver value for the business.
  • Building and executing big, scalable insight driven programs that can be executed across customers for modern trade / segments.
  • Develops and executes customer specific retail programs / segment programs intended to drive traffic, increase basket size, and/or increase conversion.
  • Working very closely with our numerous agency resources as well as finance, legal, and our distributor partners.
  • Onboard and build JUCPS to unlock full potential of our ecommerce partners
  • Understanding of data and insights and a pre-existing knowledge of ecommerce customers, shoppers, and other key segments.
  • Responsible for the ecommerce programs from initial brief through to final toolkit development and customer proposition (as well as supporting execution and final M&E).
  • Responsible for ensuring that the programs are commercially viable and drive category growth (and brand growth ahead of the category).
  • Owns Sales Cycle Briefing for ecommerce.
  • Ensures KPIs/M&E in place.

 

 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic development – ability to analyze data and draw insights relevant to build strategies that support relevant channels needs in service of delivering the business ambition.
  • This role is accountable for developing and imbedding our e-commerce strategy within Diageo and support the sell-in of e-commerce plans with our key retail partners.
  • This role will coach our brand and customer marketing teams, to ensure we are creating omni channel programming to deliver against brand and customer volume growth plans.
  • The E-Commerce Manager will serve as the expert for our sales teams with customers to assist in the development and implementation of programming.
  • In addition, this role will analyze business performance within the channel, and build out insights related to consumer trends in digital and ecommerce through the collection and interpretation data where available
  • Execution – Ability to build, adapt and/or build big, creative programs. To develop & translate customer & shopper insights into customer specific activities/ programs and execute these brilliantly.
  • Performance management – ability to deliver programs that generate revenue while tracking performance by consistently measuring and intervening to make sure the programs deliver / exceed targets. Timely escalations and course correction based on judgement from the performance tracking.
  • Stakeholder management – ability to build relationships and leverage these in service of business outcomes. This across internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to finance, sales, marketing, supply, agency partners, customers, and distributors.
  • People management – Ability to build and get the best out of teams through clear KPIs, coaching and capability building.

 

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience in an omnichannel and e-commerce sales function within Consumer Packaged Goods Industry required
  • Healthy mix of performance and creative marketing skills
  • Office suite proficient including intermediate excel and strong PowerPoint skills
  • Prior involvement and proven advocacy in the digital and ecommerce space more broadly is added advantage
  • Knowledge base of eCommerce partners within the market.

 

Skills

  • A proven track record in either Marketing and/or Sales (Customer Marketing)
  • Strong creative judgment and good commercial understanding (of our customers and their shoppers)
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce channels, shopper insights etc. to develop brilliant shopper programs.
  • Strong affinity to and understanding of the principles of ecommerce channels/ segments selling and customer/consumer engagement.
  • An individual who understands how to get things done within Diageo and can influence across a broad network of the organization –
  • An ability to inspire agencies to deliver great work and ideally some experience of working with key customers.

Job Purpose/Overview

 

The role will support the Head of Supply Finance in managing the Supply Finance activities within our markets in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania as below:

  • Contribute to the business by providing decision support through accurate planning, monitoring, reporting, and analysing of Supply Chain financial results and projections.
  • Provide financial leadership to Supply Chain department by sharing information and providing insights to influence decision making.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all planning activities for supply chain, delivering budget, Long range plans, re-forecasts, and monthly rolling forecasts.
  • Support in the monthly Supply Chain Business Reviews and to raise any issues on time and provide clarity and transparency.
  • Participate in the monthly performance sessions by providing insights on cost, working capital and capex drivers.
  • Track productivity delivery by the business units monthly as well as reporting on the consolidated view every month.
  • Support in driving the standardization and simplification within Supply Chain financial processes across our business units.
  • Ensure sharing of best practices across markets to improve cost and process management.
  • Generate consolidated supply finance reports for inclusion in monthly and quarterly performance reporting to EABL leadership team, EABL board and Africa business performance and leadership teams.
  • Understand production processes through regular visits to the factory sites and fostering positive engagements with the operations teams.
  • Support in process improvement across the supply value chain.
  • Maintain required cost center reports and carry out monthly cost center reviews with the cost center owners.
  • Ensure collaboration across the supply community in East Africa markets.
  • Assist in identifying and employing interventions that will enhance the financial capability of the finance and non-finance peers within the supply community.
  • Play a key role in the implementation of the supply chain CARM controls across our markets.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Group Supply Finance Manager.

 

 

 

Job Specifications/Qualifications

 

1. Education & Professional Qualification

  • Business degree
  • Chartered Accountant or similar qualification

 

 

 

2. Knowledge/Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, preferably in an international FMCG company with at least 1 years’ experience, in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • SAP Knowledge
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with all levels of the organization.
