Nyanza Cooperative Union 1984 LTD is a limited liability Secondary Cooperative Society with registration No. 4152 dated 21.04.1984. It is registered under the Co-operative Societies Act No 6 of 2013. The Union is owned by 253 registered Cooperative Primary Societies within Mwanza Region and is a member of the Tanzania Federation of Co-operatives Limited (TFC). NCU (1984) LTD is one of the largest Co-operative Unions in Tanzania.

Employment Opportunities

Nyanza Cooperative Union invites dynamic, proactive, experienced, and suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill two (2) vacancies:

  1. General Manager (1 Vacancy)
    Employer: Nyanza Cooperative Union
    Reports to: Board of Directors
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Chief Executive Officer of NCU (1984) Ltd, overseeing all assets and activities in accordance with the Union’s policies and regulations.
    • Provide leadership, direction, and vision while ensuring high-quality services.
    • Manage day-to-day operations through subordinate departments and units.
    • Prepare work procedures for employees for Board approval.
    • Prepare and submit monthly financial statements, reports, and other required information to the Board.
    • Convene meetings in consultation with the Chairman.
    • Prepare and submit annual accounts for approval and auditing.
    • Maintain records of accounts, debt assets, and stock warrants for members.
    • Handle secretarial duties and confirm contracts and agreements.
    • Translate the Cooperative development policy into action plans.
    • Responsible for both internal and external communications.
    • Approve payments and ensure adherence to approved budgets and regulations.
      Desired Attributes:
    • Adaptability, confidentiality, ethical standards, innovative, excellent analytical skills, and fluency in English and Kiswahili.
      Qualifications and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperative Management, Economics, Public Administration, Agribusiness, Finance, or related fields.
    • Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
    • Minimum three (3) years of work experience, with at least two (2) years in a managerial position.
  2. Chief Accountant (1 Vacancy)
    Employer: Nyanza Cooperative Union
    Reports to: General Manager
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare estimates of income, expenditure, and cash flow for the union.
    • Control debt, provide fund usage instructions, and maintain financial records.
    • Verify annual expenditure information and report to the Board.
    • Prepare annual financial accounts and submit them to external auditors.
    • Provide counsel to the General Manager and Board on handling funds and assets.
    • Manage resources such as buildings and fields under the direction of the Board and General Manager.
    • Prepare and submit quarterly financial statements to the Board.
      Desired Attributes:
    • Adaptability, confidentiality, ethical standards, innovative, excellent analytical skills, and fluency in English and Kiswahili.
      Qualifications and Experience:
    • Holder of an Advanced Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Finance or related fields.
    • Internationally recognized accountancy qualification (e.g., CPA(T), ACCA, CFA) registered by NBAA.
    • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in a similar role.
