Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Organize and manage regulatory information; track and control submission of reports.
- Ensure timely payment of all regulatory fees.
- Monitor day-to-day compliance risks and report findings.
- Review compliance policies and procedures regularly to ensure alignment with statutory and regulatory requirements.
2. Governance & Regulatory Support
- Collect and prepare regulatory documentation for submission to authorities.
- Compile materials for license renewals, updates, and registrations.
- Review product labeling and marketing materials to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assess new products and define requirements for regulatory submissions.
- Provide regulatory input for customer complaints and audit reviews.
3. Environmental Management
- Ensure certification and ongoing monitoring of all towers in line with environmental laws.
- Promote integration of environmental and sustainability (ESG) considerations into company policies, products, and operations.
- Support efficient institutional operations while promoting environmental and social improvements.
4. Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Compliance
- Develop SHE guidelines in line with Airtel Africa policies and global recommendations.
- Train SHE Champions across zones/regions and cascade information to all employees.
- Conduct periodic SHE drills to heighten safety awareness.
5. Facility Safety & Equipment Management
- Ensure availability, supervision, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, alarms, and suppression systems.
- Monitor maintenance contractors and ensure regulatory certifications are current.
6. Incident & Accident Management
- Investigate incidents/accidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Collect and analyze SHE performance data and submit reports to management.
- Ensure timely submission of monthly and quarterly SHE reports.
7. SHE Risk & Quality Management
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with fire safety and evacuation regulations.
- Advise on SHE requirements for new project designs, installations, and commissioning.
8. Advisory & Consultation
- Provide guidance and training to staff and security personnel on fire safety, occupational safety, and health.
- Advise management on safety, health, and regulatory compliance issues.
9. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with government authorities, regulators, policymakers, and international organizations.
- Provide expert environmental advice and respond to compliance-related queries.
- Prepare group relationship reports and strategic plans for management.
Qualifications
Educational & Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional qualifications in SHE, risk management, or related fields.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience, with at least 1 year of core SHE experience.
- Knowledge of safety management systems, hazard management, and emergency response.
- Experience in incident/accident investigation and risk assessment.
Behavioral & Technical Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Methodical approach to investigations and data analysis.
- Detail-oriented with strong planning and prioritization abilities.
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours when required.
