Job Summary

Dangote Industries Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to lead and train a workforce in the operation, maintenance, and reliability of cement manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, spare parts planning, and ensuring optimal equipment performance in line with safety and quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians in the operation and maintenance of cement production equipment, including vertical roller mills, reclaimers, and related machinery.
  • Train team members on safe working practices, preventive maintenance, and equipment health monitoring.
  • Plan and implement preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct failure investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards during all maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance checklists, spare parts inventory, and ensure timely availability of required materials.
  • Utilize SAP (MM and PM modules) for maintenance planning, work order management, and inventory control.
  • Plan and allocate manpower for daily monitoring, breakdowns, and shutdown maintenance.
  • Oversee upgrades and modifications of existing systems to enhance production efficiency.
  • Monitor and report Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) to achieve maintenance targets.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Section Head or Head of Department.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a cement plant or heavy industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP (MM and PM modules).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment reliability, and preventive maintenance.
  • Excellent incident analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills (both written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity in improving maintenance systems and processes.
