Senior Accountant

• • Location: Mwanza, Tanzania

• • Overview: The Senior Accountant ensures seamless financial systems and provides expert guidance to support TREES’ mission. Reporting to the Country Finance and Operations Manager, this role oversees fiscal operations and manages the Accounts Officer and Procurement Officer.

• • Key Responsibilities:
    • • Monitor expenditures and forecast financial needs.
    • • Prepare financial statements and management accounts for decision-making.
    • • Approve payments, journal entries, and financial transactions.
    • • Design and manage cost-analysis systems to detect overruns.
    • • Collaborate on cost-saving strategies and provide financial recommendations.
    • • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee audits.
    • • Mentor junior accountants and maintain strong financial controls.

• • Eligibility Criteria:
    • • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
    • • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification.
    • • 5-7 years of financial management experience.
    • • 2-4 years in agriculture/rural development (preferred).

• • Overview: The Project Officer drives the adoption of the Forest Garden Approach, managing farmer recruitment and training for Simiyu Projects 1 and 2. Reporting to the Program Manager, this role ensures impactful agroforestry implementation.

• • Key Responsibilities:
    • • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and identify expansion areas.
    • • Mobilize and train farmers, forming groups and selecting Lead Farmers.
    • • Oversee training, extension, and M&E activities per TREES guidelines.
    • • Ensure farmer contracts are signed and monitor progress.
    • • Maintain records, submit reports, and mentor farmers for quality outcomes.
    • • Supervise Assistant Project Officers and adapt to additional tasks.

• • Eligibility Criteria:
    • • University degree in Agriculture, Agroforestry, Forestry, or related field.
    • • 3+ years in forestry, agroforestry, or sustainable agriculture (preferred).
    • • Strong communication and training facilitation skills.
    • • Fluency in English, Swahili, and local languages (preferred).
    • • Valid motorcycle license with safe riding experience.

Assistant Project Officer

• • Overview: The Assistant Project Officer supports farmer recruitment and training under the Forest Garden Approach, reporting to the Project Officer to ensure effective project delivery in Simiyu Projects 1 and 2.

    • • Scout expansion areas and recruit farmers into groups.
    • • Train farmers on agroforestry practices per TREES’ framework.
    • • Provide extension services and maintain accurate farmer records.
    • • Administer contracts and support M&E data collection.

• • Eligibility Criteria:
    • • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agriculture, Agroforestry, or related field.
    • • 1+ year in agroforestry or sustainable agriculture.
    • • Experience in participatory training (preferred).

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer

    • • Train staff on M&E tools and coordinate drone surveys.

• • Eligibility Criteria:
    • • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Science, IT, or related field.
    • • 2+ years in MEL with NGOs or government projects.
