Information Communications and Technology (ICT) Administrator

Description
The ICT Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting the institution’s information and communication technology systems. This role involves overseeing the implementation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure, providing technical support to staff, and ensuring that ICT systems align with the institution’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the ICT strategy and policies are always updated and well implemented.
  • Ensure the information security measures are in place, up to date, and well implemented.
  • Build capacity of ICT team and non-ICT staff on various ICT solutions.
  • Manage and administer remote and local servers.
  • Act as a custodian of all other ICT systems and ensure implementations are as per the institution’s ICT policies in terms of system security, data protection, and recovery plan.
  • Develop the ICT yearly plan and budget and monitor its implementation.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software.
  • Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the organization’s ICT systems.
  • Manage network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Support the Communications section to maintain and update the institution’s website.
  • Support other sections, including Finance, M&E, and others, to ensure respective online platforms are maintained and updated.
  • Provide technical support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware, connections, and software issues.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on the use of ICT systems and tools.
  • Manage and resolve ICT-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
  • Monitor system performance and implement necessary upgrades.
  • Ensure regular backups and recovery procedures are in place and tested.
  • Support the implementation of ICT-related projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify ICT needs and provide solutions.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of new technology tools, equipment, and software.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of ICT systems, procedures, and inventory.
  • Prepare regular reports on ICT performance, incidents, and improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Assist in procurement of ICT equipment and services by providing specifications as required by the institution’s procurement policies.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Professional ICT certifications.
  • Well-founded Windows knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience installing IT hardware and software.
  • Work experience with Windows servers and cloud-based email servers.
  • Good knowledge of CentOS, PHP, MariaDB, and Apache web server.
  • Good command of English and Kiswahili.
  • Administrative skills, including communication.

Qualifications

  1. Educational Background:
    • Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or additional postgraduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
    • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or advanced certifications like Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) can be valuable.
  2. Relevant Training:
    • Training or coursework in project management, cybersecurity, data management, or software development might be beneficial.

Communications Intern

Description
The Communications Intern will assist in the implementation of REPOA’s Communications Strategy under the supervision of the Senior Communications Officer. She/he will assist in efforts to promote a positive public image of the institution by implementing and monitoring both internal and external communications plans, the layout of branding materials/publications as required, and executing the key related deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining a consistent and compelling brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of REPOA’s events and/or training sessions with structured plans for effective branding and visibility.
  • Support the process for designing online posters as punchy communication tools for digital campaigns and run of events.
  • Support the process for designing and layout of REPOA’s branding materials and/or key publications.
  • Support the process for production of the major outputs of the institution, including Research Reports, Policy Briefs, and Annual Reports.
  • Prepare periodic analytics/data related to REPOA’s communications efforts when engaging with both online and mainstream media, data on produced research outputs, and other branding activities.
  • Take photographs/audiovisual outputs when needed and/or during high-level visits at REPOA, as fit for documentation.
  • Assist in the monitoring of press coverage and holding special events such as press conferences and media briefings.
  • Support in the handling of procurement-related requests associated with the Communications Unit.
  • Assist to maintain and update REPOA’s website and social media channels.
  • Populate contents and keep REPOA’s intranet active to encourage internal communication within the organization.
  • Assist in Kiswahili translations when required.
  • Participate in organizing media coverage for REPOA events, training sessions, and assist in drafting respective press releases.
  • Prepare communication posters and messaging as fit for sharing with broader stakeholders.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Communications Officer.

Qualifications

  • A degree or Master’s degree in Journalism or Mass Communication, Social Sciences, Marketing, or any other related field. Qualifications and hands-on experience in graphic designing may be an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Progressive responsible experience of not less than 3 years in a similar role at a reputable organization.
