JOB ADVERT: Underground Maintenance Engineer
Matongo Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Underground Maintenance Engineer to join Matongo Gold Mine team. Successful candidate will be responsible for leading maintenance team for safe engineering maintenance and efficient operation of equipment and infrastructure in underground. This includes planning, scheduling, and routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and implementing safety procedures.
Reporting to: Mine General Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all underground operations comply with safety, health and environment regulations and standards.
- Implement and monitor adherence to engineering standards, taking corrective action where necessary.
- Demonstrate effective safety leadership by ensuring the mine complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place
- Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems to meet set targets.
- Implement action plans to achieve the mining strategy and business plans.
- Set and prepare financial budget for the maintenance and engineering developments project.
- Controling maintenance cost performance, including monthly forecast and variance analysis reporting.
- Ensure effective and efficient execution of maintenance planning to meet department performance KPI (Schedule compliance, PM compliance, level of planned vs unplanned work, backlog and critical spares)
- Prepare engineering maintenance downtime report on daily, weekly, monthly and year-to date.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance downtimes, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Working with other supporting departments within the mine to ensure efficient of engineering underground.
- Identifying and addressing issues promptly and effectively.
- Conducting regular inspections of equipment and infrastructure to identify potential issues.
- Planning, organizing, and managing the engineering aspects of underground projects, including design, construction, and maintenance.
- Keeping track of project costs and ensuring that the project is completed on time and within budget.
- Conducting performance appraisal/evaluation for direct report and workforce.
- Interact professionally with external resources such as equipment suppliers and consultants
- Coordinating work performed by outside vendors
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Tertiary Engineering qualifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience as maintenance engineer on mining industry or related engineering field
- Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated people leadership and management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing at all level in organization.
- Ability to work well under pressure and deliver results
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and maintenance software.
- Experience with water pumps applications and mine dewatering
- People management skills
