JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT (On Behalf of the Employer)

Position: BUSINESS STUDIES & COMMERCE TEACHER

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam)
Reports to: Head Master
Contract Type: Full-time, 12 months renewable
Start Date: As soon as possible

Human Resources: Recruitment & Talent Acquisition (incl. Executive Search), HR policies & employee handbooks, employment contracts & compliance, training & capacity building, performance management, employee relations & mediation, leadership coaching, HR audits & strategic workforce planning, payroll management & outsourcing, outplacement & career transition support.

Business Support & Advisory: Professional CV/cover letter services, business & strategic plan development, BRELA company registration support, business licence applications, TIN registration & compliance, company formation & structuring, SME growth & startup advisory, accounting/bookkeeping & tax filing support.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and deliver lessons in Accounting/Bookkeeping and Commerce aligned to NECTA.
  • Teach: double-entry, ledgers, trial balance adjustments final accounts; cashbook & bank reconciliation; control accounts; basic cost/management accounting; ratio analysis.
  • Teach Commerce: trade & entrepreneurship, marketing basics, logistics & distribution, e-commerce, consumer protection.
  • Design schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, marking guides; administer and grade tests and examinations.
  • Integrate practical learning (case studies, reconciliations, mini-enterprises, spreadsheet labs).
  • Use data for continuous assessment; run remediation and enrichment clinics to improve outcomes.
  • Uphold classroom management, safeguarding, professional standards, and ethical conduct per Tanzanian law and school policy.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, moderation, and continuous professional development.

Note: All fee collections must strictly follow the school's financial policies (segregation of duties, official receipts, daily banking, and reconciliation with the Accounts/Finance Office). Any discrepancies must be reported immediately to the Bursar/Head of School.

C. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Commerce/Business Education (PGDE/teaching preferred).
  • At least 2 years of teaching Accounting/Bookkeeping and/or Commerce at O/A-level or TVET with evidence of exam outcomes.
  • Strong command of spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) for demonstrations and gradebooks.
  • Excellent communication in English and Swahili.
  • High integrity and commitment to student learning; team player.
