JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT (On Behalf of the Employer)

Position: FRENCH TEACHER

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam

Reports to: Head Master

Contract Type: Full-time, 12 months renewable

Start Date: As soon as possible

Business Support & Advisory: Professional CV/cover letter services, business & strategic plan development, BRELA company registration support, business licence applications, TIN registration & compliance, company formation & structuring, SME growth & startup advisory, accounting/bookkeeping & tax filing support.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging French lessons aligned with NECTA and/or international frameworks (e.g., DELF/DALF).
  • Teach core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing; emphasize practical communication, phonetics, grammar, and vocabulary acquisition.
  • Integrate culture and civilization francophone through songs, films, role-plays, debates, and authentic texts; run language clubs and enrichment activities.
  • Design schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, and marking guides; administer and grade tests and examinations.
  • Use data for continuous assessment; offer remediation clinics and extension work to improve outcomes; maintain accurate grade books (Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Uphold classroom management, safeguarding, professional standards, and ethical conduct per Tanzanian law and school policy.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, moderation, and continuous professional development.
  • Note: All fee collections must strictly follow the school's financial policies (segregation of duties, official receipts, daily banking, and reconciliation with the Accounts/Finance Office). Any discrepancies must be reported immediately to the Bursar/Head of School.

C. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in French Language, Education (French), Linguistics, or a related field (PGDE/teaching qualification preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching French at primary school level with demonstrated results in student progress or language outcomes.
  • Strong command of French phonetics, basic grammar, and early childhood language pedagogy.
  • Experience using creative and digital tools (e.g., songs, visuals, storytelling apps, or Google Sheets for assessment tracking).
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English (or Swahili), high integrity, and commitment to nurturing young learners.
  • A passion for early childhood education and the ability to engage and motivate primary-level students.
