Job Purpose
The Relationship Manager – Asset Financing will be responsible for growing both Liabilities (Deposits) and Assets (Loans) from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Commercial clients involved in the asset financing business.
The incumbent will advise the Agri Retail Department on strategies to build and grow the asset financing portfolio, assist Relationship Officers and Branch Managers in acquiring and managing business clients, and ensure high-quality loan portfolio performance.
In addition, the Relationship Manager will analyze loan performance within the assigned area, identify business opportunities, and support the product development team in designing new financial solutions that meet the needs of agribusiness customers.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement action plans to achieve asset and liability targets within the assigned zone.
- Review and provide input on the bank’s pricing policies for Agri Retail loan products and services based on field insights.
- Initiate customer engagement initiatives such as Business Clubs, Agri Executive Networks, and other agricultural events.
- Monitor and supervise all Agri Retail loans issued and disbursed in the area to ensure portfolio quality and compliance.
- Prepare timely performance reports (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly) on assets and liabilities.
- Plan, prepare, and review marketing strategies for existing and new Agri Retail loan products.
- Ensure loan delivery processes are efficient and recommend process improvements to the Head; Agri Retail.
- Review and assess credit appraisals from Relationship Officers before submission to the Credit Department for final decision.
- Assist branches and zones in preparing budgets for Agri Retail assets and liabilities.
- Train and coach Relationship Officers on best practices in business development, client management, and credit evaluation.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of Asset Financing business and its supply chains.
- Awareness of agricultural cycles, mechanization trends, and productivity challenges.
- Sound knowledge of Agribusiness Retail Banking products and services relevant to asset financing.
- Excellent understanding of agriculture sector dynamics and related regulations.
- Solid knowledge of banking operations, loan products, and financial markets in Tanzania.
- Familiarity with government subsidies, import duties, and financing schemes for agri-assets.
- Understanding of climate-smart technologies, sustainability practices, and related insurance products.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
- Excellent communication (English and Kiswahili), analytical, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of leading change.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and networking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Demonstrated people management, team-building, and performance development skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ banking experience, including credit assessment, client management, project appraisal, and general banking operations.
- Familiarity with agricultural assets such as tractors, irrigation systems, greenhouses, and post-harvest equipment.
